"Having spent 26 years working in the criminal justice system, first as a prosecutor then as a defense attorney, I understand and appreciate how important a good investigator is and how invaluable their contribution to a case. The facts are everything in a criminal case, and Rebecca Dixon is relentless in her search for favorable facts. It was my pleasure to work with Rebecca on several homicide defense cases, including a capital case. Rebecca is smart, knowledgeable and dedicated. She cares about justice for your client. She is a skilled interviewer. She writes competent, professional reports and she is a credible witness if you need her to testify. Above all, she is ethical and has a great reputation. In short, you do your client a great service by retaining Rebecca Dixon."

"I am writing to recommend Rebecca Dixon with great enthusiasm. By way of background, I am an assistant federal public defender in New Hampshire. I first met Rebecca in my role as a state public defender in New Hampshire from 2003 to 2015. Later, as the Director of the Criminal Practice Clinic at UNH School of Law, I worked with Rebecca from 2016 to 2018 as a private investigator on numerous clinic cases.
Rebecca is one of a small handful of the most conscientious and capable criminal defense investigators I have come to know in my 25 years as a criminal defense attorney. Whenever I asked Rebecca to interview a witness, I knew she would get back to me in a timely fashion, no matter how urgent the request. While no investigator can guarantee that a witness will agree to speak to him or her, Rebecca was able to interview each and every witness I asked her to interview. Rebecca wrote thorough and easy-to-follow reports.
Rebecca was an excellent team player. On the one hand, she was good about paying close attention to the parameters of the investigation I requested – whom to interview and whom not to interview, what to ask and what not to ask. On the other hand, she creatively contributed valuable investigation ideas and theories.
In my clinic cases, Rebecca served a valuable pedagogical role. She interacted well with the law students, and even came to one of my classes to lecture on defense investigation.
Simply put, Rebecca is a great investigator."
Mary Hawkes | New Hampshire Public Defender
"Rebecca was employed as an investigator with New Hampshire Public Defender from August 1995 - August 2000. In my time as Rebecca's supervisor, she showed herself to be a highly skilled, prompt, detail oriented, proactive investigator. She was persistent, as is necessary in this work, but always remained professional. She communicated well with our clients and their witnesses and with her colleagues, from her supervisors to her assigned attorneys to her fellow investigators and secretarial staff. Rebecca worked on some of our most difficult and serious cases, with excellent results. All of Rebecca's performance evaluations were overwhelmingly positive and she left our organization on excellent terms. In fact, I referred several private attorneys to her after she left NHPD because I had great faith in her work."

"I am a solo practitioner primarily doing criminal defense work. I started my career at the New Hampshire Public Defender's Office in 2004. During my time with the Public Defender I routinely used the in-house investigators for witness interviews and other investigative needs. After leaving the Public Defender to enter private practice I quickly realized that the investigators at the Public Defender were far superior to those in the private sector. Then I found Rebecca.
Rebecca is now my go-to investigator for both major and minor cases. I have sent her under bridges to explore homeless encampments and to businesses to interview professionals. In every situation she is professional, efficient and thorough. Her reports are timely and complete. Her instincts are spot on. She responds promptly to questions and is a valuable sounding board for how best to investigate a case.
Above all else, Rebecca is kind, engaging and tactful with everyone she meets. These are essential traits when dealing with those impacted by violent crime, which is much of what I do. I only wish I had found her sooner."
Caroline Smith | New Hampshire Public Defender
"I am happy to recommend the services of Rebecca Dixon as an investigator in criminal cases.
In 2001, when Rebecca Dixon worked as an investigator for the New Hampshire Public Defender, she was assigned as my investigator in a homicide case involving a woman charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of her husband. The defense was self-defense. The case required that Ms. Dixon not only uncover facts regarding the couple's living situation at the time of the shooting, but to completely uncover and document the relationship during the couple's 38 years of marriage, including any history of domestic violence. In order to do so, Ms. Dixon had to interview witnesses who were either family or friends of the couple. These witnesses were sometimes conflicted in their loyalties, were reluctant to disclose intimate family history, or suffered from faded memories. Nevertheless, her patient and compassionate style won over the witnesses and she was able to gather all the information we needed. We were then able to present to the jury a full and complete history of the marriage leading up to the shooting, all of which was necessary for the jury to understand the nuances of the self-defense claim. Our client was acquitted.
In addition to conducting the interviews with witnesses, Ms. Dixon was invaluable during the trial, keeping me organized and managing the witnesses, including coordinating their subpoenas, fees and appearances. I enthusiastically recommend Rebecca Dixon for criminal investigation."

"I have worked with Rebecca Dixon on many occasions since 2000. I found that Rebecca's investigative skills have greatly assisted my clients in a complete investigation of their case and assisting in the litigation of those cases.
Rebecca's years of experience are reflected in her self-assurance and thoroughness in completing investigations. She excels in locating and interviewing reluctant witnesses and presents clear and concise reports. She also performs her duties with high standards of ethics, produces reliable information, all submitted in a timely fashion."
Jeannette Sheldon | Capital Mitigation Services, Arizona
"Rebecca earned a reputation among attorneys as a talented and hardworking team member. Years of private investigative work, integrity, ethics, intuition and communication skills produced great investigative results causing senior attorneys to admire her ability to handle every type of case from juveniles to clients facing the death penalty. I have never met an investigator I would rather work with."

"I am writing to offer my enthusiastic recommendation of Rebecca Dixon.
Rebecca is at all times professional, prompt, and diligent. As a criminal defense attorney, I am particularly impressed by her understanding of the law and the strategic considerations inherent in preparing a case for trial. She is not only a sound decision-maker in the field, she offers invaluable insight and input that helps guide the trial preparation process.
Perhaps more importantly, Rebecca is highly personable, and approaches investigations with an empathy and understanding that puts people at ease and makes them feel comfortable discussing serious, and often emotionally difficult matters. I am consistently amazed at the manner in which she is able to encourage people, even those who might have interests very much adverse to those of our clients, to open up and speak freely.
At the same time, Rebecca can be absolutely tenacious in the pursuit of her goal. I recall one investigation in particular in which we were attempting to secure the statement of a critical favorable witness in a major felony case. The witness simply did not want to be found. She had cut ties with numerous connections and had, for lack of a better term, "fallen off the radar." But Rebecca got a lead. She left her home in New Hampshire well before dawn to travel to a town south of Boston. She met with an estranged family member who initially was reluctant to talk. Soon however, he was providing all sorts of information, including the witness' residence address. Within a short time, Rebecca was at the residence, where she spent the next few hours interviewing her and obtaining a sworn statement that was highly favorable to our client. Late in the afternoon, she called me to update me on her progress. As the sun set, she arrived at my office, briefed me on the details, and provided me with the witness' statement. She left well after dark for the two-hour drive home to New Hampshire. I arrived in the office the next morning to find an email with her lengthy and detailed report of the interview awaiting me.
Rebecca would be an invaluable asset to any organization or individual in need of a team member who is organized, thoughtful, and committed. Again, I recommend her enthusiastically and without reservation or hesitation."
