Suffolk University Innocence Clinic

Rebecca’s experience includes working directly with Shira Diner, Adjunct Professor at Suffolk University Law School’s Innocence Clinic, where she worked closely with students on cases of potential wrongful conviction in the Commonwealth assigned through the New England Innocence Project. Working with the law students provided Rebecca with the opportunity to assist students in learning about all aspects of wrongful convictions and the broader criminal justice system.

New England Innocence Project

Rebecca worked directly with Cynthia Mousseau, JD and Laura Carey, JD on some of the New England Innocence Project’s wrongful convictions cases. Working with these dedicated and passionate criminal defense attorneys in reviewing and investigating potential wrongful convictions was a powerfully rewarding experience. Being involved in the Innocence Project afforded Rebecca the opportunity to meet Exonerees in Washington, DC who had spent decades in prison for crimes they did not commit.

Clinical Education

UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law – Criminal Practice Clinic

Rebecca worked directly with Behzad Mirhashem, JD and Richard Samdperil, JD for over five years. Law students who were certified to practice under New Hampshire Rule 36 were assigned criminal cases where indigent clients were charged with misdemeanor or felony charges in New Hampshire courts. Rebecca worked with law students in reviewing cases, discussing theory of defense, and potential witness interviews and preparing witnesses to testify in court. Many of the law students Rebecca worked with secured employment with the NH Public Defender’s Office after graduation. Being part of the Criminal Practice has been a very rewarding part of Rebecca’s career.

The Sentencing Project

Rebecca has worked on numerous juvenile cases through out her career. In 2019, Rebecca assisted counsel on a JLWOP case where their client was granted a reduced sentence after presenting mitigation related to the juvenile’s family life.
